A beautiful vintage Monet butterfly brooch with intricate lace-like openwork wings in a rich polished gold tone, a textured body, twisted antennae and a long tapered tail.
Signed Ā© MONET on the reverse, with a traditional pin and secure clasp. Likely circa 1970sā1980s. About 1.15 x 1.25 inches.
About the maker: Monet was founded in 1929 in Providence, Rhode Island, by brothers Michael and Jay Chernow. It became known for polished gold-tone metal jewelry and was one of the first costume jewelry companies to sign its pieces, a mark of quality that collectors still look for.
