Vintage 1974 Sarah Coventry “Imperial” Brooch/Pendant – Faux Turquoise, Amethyst & Pearl

Sarah Coventry’s “Imperial” design from 1974: an antiqued silver-tone fleur-de-lis/cross-shaped statement piece with a simulated turquoise teardrop centre, four deep amethyst-coloured faceted stones and creamy faux pearls, surrounded by heavily textured, beaded metalwork.

Designed as a convertible brooch/pendant, so it can be pinned to clothing or worn on a chain. The reverse carries the Canadian manufacture mark.

About the maker: Sarah Coventry was founded in 1949 in Newark, New York, and became one of the best-known names in mid-century costume jewelry. Rather than selling in stores, its pieces were sold at home jewelry parties hosted by local "Fashion Show Directors", so many Canadian and American women built their collections one party at a time. The company had a strong presence in Canada, and its signed pieces are now popular with collectors.
