A particularly striking pair of signed vintage Vendôme clip-on earrings. Each oversized round medallion has a rich deep-blue domed cabochon at the centre, surrounded by smaller emerald-green and burgundy cabochons.
Raised gold-tone scrollwork sits against a dark recessed background, finished with a finely beaded border for an ornate, almost Byzantine-inspired look. Substantial and heavy in the hand.
About the maker: Vendôme was Coro's luxury line, launched in 1944. Vendôme pieces used higher-quality stones and more elaborate designs than everyday Coro, and are now among the most collectible mid-century American costume jewelry.
